Planned Giving: Remembering the Church in your will

By Laurent Fournier.  The Church is the community of those who accept the message of Jesus and try to support and sustain all of God’s children in response to that message.

Christians have a responsibility to aid and support God’s Community. Offering our gifts is what enables the Church to respond to those in need and to provide services in places where we, as individuals cannot.

Planned Gifts have become a popular method of donating. They offer an effective way of assisting to fund areas the donor considers important. A well planned donation can accomplish two important objectives:

1. Provide support to the church programs and services.

2. Lower current taxes and/or lower the taxes an estate will be required to pay after the donor’s death.

Planned Giving advisors assist donors to structure donations which will accomplish the donor’s wishes and achieve the greatest tax benefits for the donor.

If you would like more information about Planned Giving, please contact Bishop Burton at (306) 763-2455 ext. 5.

Mr. Laurent Fournier is Director of Stewardship Programmes for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatchewan and Chairman of the Stewardship Committee of the Anglican Diocese of Saskatchewan.
