Two Regions have new Deans

Richard-Hetke.jpgThe Bishop of Saskatchewan is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev. Richard Hetke as Dean of the Region of Melfort and the Very Rev. Michael Hawkins as Regional Dean of Prince Albert.

Regional Deans have a variety of duties in the Diocese of Saskatchewan, including sitting on the Diocesan Executive Committee and chairing both Regional Clergy and Great Chapter Meetings.

Mr. Hetke has been the Rector of Nipawin since 2004.

Michael-Hawkins-2.jpgDean Hawkins has been Dean of Saskatchewan, Rector and Canon Residentiary of St. Alban's Cathedral since 2001.

With his wife, Sharon Dewey Hetke, Mr. Hetke has three young children, Edmund, Beatrice and Meg.

Dean Hawkins is married to Kathryn and has two children, Matthew and Alexandra.

Mr. Hetke succeeds as Regional Dean, the Rev. Wayne Sturgess, the Rector of Tisdale.  Mr. Hawkins succeeds the Rev. Dr. David Smith.

Although it wouldn't be such a bad idea to give regional deans a substantial raise in pay, more importantly, the job should come with a fancy title or something cool one could wear. I'll take suggestions to submit as a motion to the next Synod. Perhaps the title "the extremely Rev'd" or possibly red and white barber-pole style piping on one's cassock or a cool patch for the preaching scarf.

I suggest a spectacular hat.

A hat would work. Excellent suggestion.
