Stephen Andrews elected Prolocutor of General Synod

Stephen-Andrews-2.jpgThe Rev. Dr. Stephen Andrews, former Dean of the Diocese of Saskatchewan, was elected this evening to the second highest office of the General Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada.  He was elected as the General Synod's Prolocutor (effectively president of the Houses of the clergy and laity).  While there were many distinguished nominees on the ballot, the contest was finally between Dr. Andrews and the Chancellor of the Diocese of Toronto, Mr. Robert Falby, whom Dr. Andrews defeated in a vote of 156 to 133.

Dr. Andrews is President of Thornloe University in Sudbury, Ontario, and has been a member of the Primate's Theological Commission and a member of the General Synod's Executive Committee, the Council of General Synod.
