Archbishop Sylvain Lavoie, OMI, of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Keewatin-Le Pas had an informal breakfast meeting at Bishopsthorpe this morning to initiate conversations about greater ecumenical cooperation between Anglicans and Roman Catholics in Northern Canada.  Specifically the bishops talked about agenda ideas for a possible joint meeting between Roman Catholic Bishops with Northern Territories Group and the Anglican Council of the North, and the two denominations' involvement in the residential schools' Truth and Reconcilation process.
Archbishop Lavoie and Bishop Burton will work together to develop proposals for their two bishops' meetings.
Bishop Burton is the Chair of the Ecumenical Task Force of the Council of the North and the Co-Chair of the Anglican-Roman Catholic Dialogue of Canada.
