A very interesting article!

The last decade is unusual in that the political left in North America has intentionally sought to find policies to drive Christians out; we are now returning to a more normal situation with Christians active across the political spectrum.

The author of this article doesn't seem to know the difference between evangelists and evangelicals. Evangelicals up here hunt, fish, snowmobile and enjoy the environment a lot, and were instrumental in setting up the National Parks system in Canada.
